FAQ

Q1. When will the British University of Bahrain be open to students?

We will take our first intake of students in October 2018. Enrollment is now open so please contact our admissions team for details on how to apply, fees and other important information. Alternatively please see the relevant sections of this website.

Q2. If I study at the British University of Bahrain, which university will award my degree?

All degrees studied at BUB are awarded by the University of Salford in the UK. The degrees available at BUB are identical to those offered on the University of Salford’s UK campus in Manchester, with the addition of the Foundation Year for students who have completed 12 years of school education.

Q3. Can I transfer to the University of Salford?

Yes, in principle any student who has completed at least one year of study at BUB can transfer to the same programme at the University of Salford in the UK. Under some circumstances, it might be possible to transfer to a different programme if you meet the necessary pre-requisites. Such requests will be considered on a case by case basis.

Q4. Will my degree be recognised in Bahrain?

Yes. All degree programmes offered at BUB are recognised by the Higher Education Council of Bahrain and students who meet HEC’s requirements will be eligible to have their degrees attested when they graduate.

Q5. What are the costs of studying at BUB?

BUB students pay an annual fee which covers all tuition, use of the University facilities and registration with the University of Salford, UK. Applicants will also be asked to pay a one-off application fee and a registration fee once they accept the offer of a place. Please see the Fees and Bursaries page of this website for details of current fees.

Q6. Are there any bursaries or scholarships available?

BUB is committed to rewarding academic excellence and is keen to attract the most able students from Bahrain and the GCC. For that reason we have introduced our Academic Bursary Scheme whereby students can obtain reductions in fees of up to 30%. Academic Bursaries will be awarded on the basis of performance in our Academic Bursary Examination. Please see the page on Academic Bursaries on this website (link).
