June 15, 2020 Announcement

BUB Launch New Degrees | LLB Law and Computer Science with Cyber Security

The British University of Bahrain offers University of Salford UK degrees in the Kingdom of Bahrain. Today BUB announced the launch of two new degrees, for September 2020. We are now proud to offer the LLB Law degree and the Computer Science with Cyber Security degree programme. Both awarded by the University of Salford-Manchester. Also, the Bahrain students follow the exact same curriculum as students at Salford’s Manchester campus. Equally, as with all of the courses offered at BUB, the programmes are fully accredited by Bahrains Higher Education Council. We believe that the addition of these two UK degree courses will provide Bahrain students with increased employment opportunities. The course is focussed on the specific technical challenges that modern organisations face, in securing ever-growing volumes of valuable data. With cyber-attacks increasing, this programme will skill graduates with the knowledge to counter the activities of cyber-attackers and secure the data of businesses, governments and individuals.
This programme also meets the accreditation requirements of the British Computer Society.

Commenting on the launch of our new degrees, Prof. Keith Sharp – BUB Vice President said:

“These programmes are a very important addition to our portfolio here at BUB. They address an immediate and growing skills gap in the global employment market. Almost all aspects of modern life could be susceptible to the activities of cyber-attackers. Also, as digitalisation grows in every sphere of society, so does vulnerability to an attack. All the evidence suggests that advanced cyber security knowledge is in short supply and certainly not adequate. Our Computer Science with Cyber Security programme equips students with the knowledge to deal with an increasing global issue.
We also know that students from Bahrain and the wider GCC region relocate to the UK, to undertake professionally oriented degrees in Law. Offering the prestigious Salford LLB Law Degree here in Bahrain, we hope, will provide an opportunity to those who, for whatever reason, prefer not to study abroad. The LLB Law Degree is a demanding and rigorous programme, designed to meet the exacting professional standards of the legal profession in England and Wales.”
Lastly, the Vice President added – “The employment opportunities for graduates from both of these fields are excellent.”
