BUB Students Participate in Bahrain’s First Youth Summit

Some of our BUB students participated in the highly prestigious Youth Summit 2020, this year hosted virtually in Bahrain by the Ministry of Youth and Sports Affairs.

Bahrain Youth Summit 2020

This virtual event, organised by the Ministry of Youth and Sports Affairs, is the first of its kind in the Kingdom of Bahrain. The 2020 Bahrain Youth Summit invited students and key decision makers from the Bahrain Ministry all met over a two-day event, held virtually, through remote visual communication technology.

The main objective of the summit was to discuss and debate the students own ideas and recommendations, regarding individually presented tasks and challenges. The aims were to encourage pragmatic solutions from University level students, to real-life issues, presented by the distinguished Ministers. In addition, these recommendations could then become part of their actual decision making.

His Highness Shaikh Nasser Bin Hamad Al Khalifa was the keynote speaker at the opening of the summit, as the representative of His Majesty the King and representing Humanitarian Works and Youth Affairs.

Nine Ministers held discussions with the young students, regarding some of the challenges faced by their individual sectors. They then considered the students viewpoints, their proposed solutions and their ideas on how to overcome those presented challenges.

Commenting on the event, Ms Fatema Abdulrahman – Head of BUB Student Affairs said:

“We are delighted that our students got the chance to participate in such a prestigious initiative.
This event represents an aspect of the government’s priorities and relates to empowering young people and engaging them in important decision making.
I am confident that this experience will shape our students and give them a glimpse of the real challenges that our government faces.
It was amazing to witness such a unique initiative, where students get to present their ideas and recommend their own solutions to overcome real life challenges.
I am also extremely proud of how all of the students conducted themselves, throughout the two day summit, as professional representatives and true ambassadors of BUB.”
